Accounting Technician
Bridgewater and Halifax, Nova Scotia | Reports to: Manager or Partner
Join Our Team
We are seeking an experienced Accounting Technician to join our Bridgewater office. In this role, you will provide bookkeeping, accounting, and tax preparation services to small and medium-sized business clients while working closely with managers, partners, and other members of our team. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys client service, takes pride in accurate work, and is comfortable managing multiple priorities in a professional public accounting environment.
What You’ll Do
- Perform bookkeeping and accounting functions for small and medium-sized business clients.
- Prepare and maintain accounting records and supporting documentation.
- Prepare Canada Revenue Agency filings, including but not limited to:
- T1 Personal Income Tax Returns
- T2 Corporate Income Tax Returns
- Compilation engagements and related working papers
- Communicate professionally with clients to obtain information and respond to inquiries.
- Maintain confidentiality of client and Firm information.
- Comply with Firm policies, procedures, and professional standards.
- Participate in ongoing learning and professional development activities.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
What We’re Looking For
- Approximately five years of experience working as an accounting technician in public accounting, bookkeeping, or tax preparation.
- A diploma in accounting, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Previous experience preparing bookkeeping files, accounting records, personal tax returns, corporate tax returns, or compilation engagement working papers is considered an asset.

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 applications.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Demonstrated initiative, dependability, and a strong work ethic.
- Effective time management skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
- Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment.
